ABOUT AARHUS KLATREKLUB
AARHUS CLIMBING CLUB

Aarhus Klatreklub (Aarhus Climbing Club, or simply ÅK) is one of Denmark's largest climbing centres. As a member, you can top rope and lead climb, do bouldering, and work out at any time of the day – 365 days a year.
Our club is non-profit and community-driven, meaning our dedicated volunteers run most of the club’s activities, reflecting our shared passion and commitment to our community ❤ Members shape the club through democratic processes, such as the annual general meeting and an elected committee, ensuring that every voice is heard.
Aarhus Klatreklub offers belay courses in English, climbing classes, and workshops. We also organise social events such as parties, communal dinners, and climbing trips. It is a great place to meet new people.

In Denmark, associations and clubs are based on the idea that a community thrives when everyone contributes. Members are not just passive consumers of a service; they are co-creators of the community. This means that you are part of something larger than yourself, and with that comes both freedom and responsibility.
In Aarhus Klatreklub, this means that members take responsibility for everyday tasks. It is not only about climbing. Being a member also means tidying up after yourself, putting equipment back in place, and making sure the facilities are welcoming for the next person.
Our philosophy is that our club belongs to its members, and its quality depends on everyone's shared effort. Our culture is built on trust, responsibility, and solidarity.
If you would like to give something back to the community, we warmly invite you to become a volunteer. Volunteering is not only a way to support the club, but also a great way to make new friends. Please, reach out to our club host to find out more about how you can get involved.

Membership prices are set annually. To ensure that we always provide the correct price, please visit the membership page in Danish, where the current prices are kept up to date.

Yes, we offer belay courses in English.
Safety is our top priority, and we want to ensure that all instructions are fully understood. Not all of our instructors are comfortable teaching in English, and we understand that this may be a limitation when scheduling courses. We appreciate your understanding.
If you cannot find a suitable time for a course in English, you are welcome to send us an email, and we will do our best to help.
-
Go to our “Klatremakker i ÅK” Facebook group to find climbing mates.
We recommend specifying in your post whether you are looking to do toprope, lead, or bouldering, and at what level.

Safety is our top priority, and to ensure everyone’s safety, we only accept certificates issued by Dansk Klatreforbund (the Danish Climbing Federation), the Brattkort from Norges Klatreforbund (NKF), or a green or red card from Svenska Klätterförbundet (SKF), as these are the only certificates for which we have been able to confirm that they meet the same standards as those of the Danish Climbing Federation.
However, if you already have solid experience with top rope or lead climbing, please get in touch with the lead instructor ("chefinstruktør") to have your skills assessed. If everything checks out, you will receive a card that allows you to climb and belay on the high walls.
